PROJECT HISTORY
DID YOU KNOW?
CREATE grew out of a partnership in 2011 between Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School and the College of Education & Human Development that explored the impacts of a teacher residency in a single school.
In total, CREATE has received more than $16 million in grants to expand its teacher residency and mentorship program.
Over $17 Million In Grants
In 2015, The New Teacher Residency Project (NTRP) at Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School was awarded a $3 million Investing in Innovation (i3) grant from the U.S. Education Department, thereby launching an expansion of this work into several new schools and the realm of more comprehensive programming for experienced educators. This expansion was the beginning of the CREATE Teacher Residency.
CREATE received crucial additional support from several charitable foundations, including but not limited to The R.H. Dobbs Jr. Foundation, The Zeist Foundation, The Coca-Cola Foundation, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, The Belk Foundation and The Fuqua Foundation.
In the fall of 2017, CREATE was awarded a $5 million Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) grant by the U.S. Education Department to support and expand programming from 2018 to 2022.
In the fall of 2020, CREATE was awarded four (4) grants totaling $8.7 million in funds from the U.S. Department of Education and $300,000 from the National Center for Teacher Residency's Black Educator Initiative.
